The wire section of Fourdrinier Paper Machine is referred to as long wire or wire table. The main component of the wire table is an endless fine woven mesh (metal mesh or plastic mesh) The forming net sleeve is running between two large rollers, wherein the breast roller is close to the headbox, and the couch roll is at the other end.  The breast roller is usually used to support the wire, and in some paper making systems, the chest roller acts as a dewatering element or a vacuum shaper. Most of the power of the rotating wire is applied to the couch roll.

The various components between the breast roller and the couch roll have dual  functions of supporting the net and dewatering. Different dewatering devices may be used according to specific requirements. Most paper machines now use a forming plate after the breast roller, then dewatering plate assembly, then a dewatering device that passes through a series of gradual increments in vacuum: From the low vacuum wet suction tank to the high vacuum dry vacuum box, and finally the high vacuum roller.
